Jay Electronica: 40 days and 40 nights. A written testimony

Hip hop fans (from the early 2000’s) have been waiting for half of a score for what was once considered a highly anticipated album.

Jay Electronic has at times been regarded as an emcee’s emcee. He has maintained this cult like status for the better part of two decades even having never dropped a full album. Well, the wait is over folks, the time has come, we are FINALLY going to get a full body of work.

Electronica hinted on his instagram that after 40 days and 40 nights in the studio concentrating, he would then in 40 days release his debut.

After such a long and drawn out wait, one wonders if the material will live up to the hype. It is also a wonder if the attention deficit within the hiphop community warrants any hype at all. After all of the near misses that surrounded previous and supposed releases of any sort of work, is an album from Jay electronica something that anyone is still truly waiting to hear?

My personal answer is yes I want to see what’s been going on in the mind of Jay Electronica. I wonder what the old Jay Electronica has to offer to today’s hip hop crowd.

Tidal announced that the games are over and that they will be holding three intimate listening parties to celebrate the actual release of a full body of work from the God emcee.

3.12.2020 (tomorrow) they will be holding listening parties in the artists native New Orleans, New York, And L.A.
