MOZZY : TUNNEL VISION

One of the most underrated vocalists out of the Bay Area Mozzy has once again hit the streets with a scorcher. Mozzy isn’t new to the scene. His relentless grind and dedication to the craft has seen him emerge as on of the most prolific artists out of the west coasts new era. It is a Grind that has been nonstop for the better part of the last decade. Mozzy uses his signature growly voice with a heavy California street vernacular to grip his audience with tales that are all to familiar to many disenfranchised youth throughout the country. This latest melodic single is sure to hit those who take the time to listen on many levels. Mozzy brings back lyricism and paints vivid pictures with his wordplay and continue to be a “one to watch” by adopting what seems to be the mantra...

Nicki Minaj is once again standing by her man as he prepares to explain why he hasn’t registered as a sex offender. Nicki Minaj hasn’t had the greatest experiences lately when it comes down to the men in her life. Her brother Jelani Miraj was sentenced in January to 25 years to life for repeatedly raping an 11 year old girl. It Seems now that her husband Kenneth Petty is back in the can after being arrested by the feds for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender. Kobe:A fan tribute.

There are a few poignant moments that resonate with my soul in this lifetime. The first would be watching the space shuttle challenger explode in the school auditorium in 1986 . The second would be the death of my grandmother later that year in Dec. Following on there would be the birth of my son in 1992 and the subsequent birth of my daughter in 1995. These are all personal moments. Moments that involved family, moments that made me take a step back to reevaluate my life. There have been two incidents in the last ten months that have also touched my soul. Moments that have made me feel like members of my family were detached from my energy source. Moments that feel like “a glitch in the matrix”. those moments include the death of the late great Nipsey Hussle and now the death of Kobe Brya...

Hot Ni&&@: Bobby Schmurda new mixtape and pending release

A 19 year old Bobby Schmuda slapped the world in the face with his hit single Hot Ni&&@ in late 2013. In addition a take from Puff Daddy’s signature movements became know as the schmoney dance. What followed was literally Epic. A large deal for a virtual unknown with Epic records. Bobby was on top of the world. The position would have been enviable to any pre-twenty something. It all came crumbling down on an early December morning when along with 14 others Bobby was arrested. The group of individuals all considered to members of a Brooklyn street gang Gs9 were carted off to Jail and that’s where the story for a lot of young black males end. Bobby however managed to stay somewhat relative with a prison feature on Tekashi el raton 69’s single, bozoo. His release which is slated to be...

A voice From the grave. Mac Miller

As the sun set on September 7th 2018 so dimmed the light of one of the decades most talented and passionate artists. Mac miller was highly underrated for his songwriting and his soulfulness. I personally didn’t quite get the whole sensation of the Mac until I watched his NPR tiny desk performance. I was sold hook line and sinker after seeing the performance. I had no idea he was such a talented musician. Mac miller’s talent was also evident when he teamed with another multi instrumentalist and drummer Anderson Paak. DANG!, immediately hit like a soulful and retrofitted banger that put the FU back in funky. Mac Miller’s untimely death forced me to take notice again so I tuned into his music after his death. His love for music has ultimately shone its glaring light far afte...

And The Oscar goes to….

We have entered a new age. An age where authenticity in any fashion is deemed completely unnecessary when pursing the bag, Octobers very own Aubrey Graham has taken this sentiment to an all new low. It hasn’t been enough that Aubrey is From Toronto and that he lived a life far from the street life that he glorifies for money. It also isn’t enough that he uses a southern drawl the is more reminiscent of a high school dropout from Tennessee like he spends hours in a dialect class preparing for his next movie roll. He has seemingly escaped any and all repercussions for his fabricated existence in the realm of an under privileged minority just trying to find his way through life. What this glaringly proves is that 1. hip-hop is no longer the music of the people, and 2. Young people will believ...

YEEZUS, Christ is King!

His (Jesus Christ’s) second coming is inevitable. That is the message that will grace Kanye, Yezzy, Yeezus, West’s non secular music moving forward. He has vowed to keep it gospel. We are still waiting on “Jesus is King” which was slated to be released on Sept. 27th but as per Kanye, suffered the all to common delay. Kanye has had the ability however to blend the Gospel and secular to bring a unique and even if unintentionally popularization of Gospel music to those who might not otherwise receive “His” message. A couple of glaring examples of this ability would be his 2004 release of the Mega Hit “Jesus walks” and his 2016 Performance on Saturday night live of “Ultralight Beam” Featuring Gospel artists Kelly Price and Kirk Franklin. Kanye West who has recently shrouded his creations in my...
